WHAT IS THIS?

This is an online gift exchange, based on secret gift-giving games like Secret Santa, but specifically for fans of Dimension 20!When you join our Discord and sign up, you'll provide a username and wishlist that will then be assigned to a secret someone else to create a D20-related gift for you (art, writing, music, etc)! People with similar interests will be paired together, and gifts will be posted/exchanged during the last week of December!You'll also have the option to make your wishlist public, and participate in 'treating'! This allows anyone to make gifts for anyone, at any time, as an optional part of the event.

RULES

1. Please do not sign-up if you will not be able to get your gift in on time! If you sign-up and then realise you cannot participate, let us know ASAP so we can reassign your person.2. No NSFW content will be allowed. There will be minors participating, and it’s too difficult to keep track of.3. You must join our Discord server to participate! This is a new change to assist in organising; we'll be making important announcements here and messaging you about your giftee.4. Please do not publicly share your work or reveal your giftee before gift week! The fun of this event is that it is secret!5. All creations must be able to be exchanged online on Twitter, Tumblr, or Discord by the 31st. You may make a physical object/craft to send to your giftee, but you should take photos of said creations for exchange day, and of course make sure your giftee is willing to share their address. We will pair people who use the same social media sites together, so we strongly suggest posting your gift publicly (you can use the hashtag #D20Exchange2023).6. All creations/wishes should be D20-related! While the gifts are personalised, the idea is that they’ll be able to be enjoyed by anyone in the fandom. This is a themed event after all!7. Please reply/react to our messages so we know you’re still willing to participate! We'll be sending out reminders over the gift creation period; if you do not reply to our messages, we'll assume you're no longer participating.8. And of course, HAVE FUN! This is a fun fandom event for everyone, no matter your skill level, so don't worry!

FAQ

What can I make?There are no content restrictions, except that all works must be SFW! Art and writing is most common, but you can make music, playlists, even physical objects if you’re willing to ship them! There's no required word limit or minimum style, that's all up to you to decide.Do I need to join the Discord server to participate?Yes! Due to some issues with ghosting/dropping out late in the previous years, the event will now be held via our Discord server. Important announcements will be broadcast there!I missed out on sign-ups, but I still want to participate!No worries! We'll be running a 'treats' system during the month, where people will make their wishlists public so that anyone can give them a bonus gift. Towards the end of the event, there may also be some people who were unable to finish their gifts; you can volunteer as a pinch-hitter to take on their giftee!How will I be told who my giftee is? How do I know what they want?We’ll send you a message on Discord with your giftee’s username and their wishlist. You can draw something based on their wishlist and maybe even check out their social media to see what else they like.What if I need to drop out/can’t finish on time?Please don’t sign-up for the event if you don’t think you’ll be able to finish on time! You can sign-up for treating if you know you may not be able to commit. But if an emergency happens, let us know ASAP, so that we can reassign your giftee to your gifter instead, or a pinch-hitter! If you can still participate but will be late, let us know, and we’ll contact your giftee for you.Can I contact my giftee about what they want?Yes, in fact, it's encouraged! But you must do so anonymously! Using anonymous asks on tumblr or CuriousCat/Retrospring on twitter, or the anonymous bot in our Discord server are the best options. Try to keep your identity a secret as much as possible.How do I post my gift?During gift week on the 24th-31st, simply post your gift/a link to your gift on your giftee's preferred platform and tag them! Please tag us in the post or use the hashtag #D20Exchange2023 so we can reblog/retweet you! If you would rather DM your gift directly, that's fine, but shoot us a message to confirm as we'll be keeping track of all exchanges!Will there be a fic collection for this event?Yes! We'll create and announce the fic collection a bit before Gift Week for people to post their fics to if they would like!What if I get someone I don't like?Tough luck! Please be aware that this event will be reaching a bunch of different people, so don't bring your personal grudges into a fun event. However, if you have a serious problem with your giftee, you can DM us and let us know.
